black-hat-seoIf you aim at achieving high ranking, then you must avoid spamming the search engines. A common name among the web experts for spamming the search engine is spamdexing. People always try and use these techniques to try and cheat their way to the top of search engine rankings. Sometimes sites submit large number of pages to search engines hoping to have them show up often in search engine result pages. Sometimes webmasters even submit pages with numerous keywords or with keyword that are not related to the website theme or content pages.  Some spammers use to submit pages that have different content from what people will see. These are some bad practice that all search engines dislike.

What is considered spam? Given below is a quick check list.

1.   Keyword Stuffing: Repeated usage of keywords among the page that doesn’t make any sense to the readers. Some websites use H1 tags stuffed with keywords or keywords over and over again hidden in the HTML and meta tags. This is keyword stuffing or keyword spamming. Beware and step away from this.
2.    Repeating keywords over and over again by displaying them at the bottom of your document after a number of line breaks.

3.    Multiple page submission in a short time frame. Submitting same pages of website again and again to search engine is considered spamming. Also submitting multiple pages to search engines. Kindly go through the guidelines of the Search engine on the submission. Submitting the home page is the right ways and wait for 2-3 months to resubmit.

4.    Do not use automated system to submit to search engines. Many online systems offer services on quick search engine and other submissions. All are considered spam.

5.    Submitting identical pages with different title is another bad practice.

6.    Usage of tiny text which looks hidden text. Webmasters often use text with small font size to hide from user view and keep it only for search engines.  This is a bad practice

7.    Repeated usage of keywords in your website with the text color same as that of the background color. This is hiding the text from users and feed it to search engines.

8.    Changing the title tags of your web pages frequently. This will make the spiders think that your webpage are new and they visit your website often.

9.    Usage of Meta refresh can result in your site being eliminated from search engine’s index.

10.    Usage of key phrases that are not found on your web site or that are not related to what you are presenting.
